Integrating sustainability into planning and daily operations is a key part of the ConocoPhillips focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) excellence. We recently received recognition for our performance as well as our work to address global sustainability and human rights challenges.

ConocoPhillips was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Sustainability Yearbook 2022. Over 7,500 companies were considered for potential inclusion. To be listed in the yearbook, companies must score within the top 15% of their industry and must achieve an S&P Global ESG Score within 30% of top-performing companies within their industry. DJSI benchmarks sustainable best practices for investors, tracking performance by the world's leading companies in terms of ESG factors. Company scores are based on management of ESG issues including corporate governance, risk management, branding and reputation, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labor practices. Our overall score earns us a place on the North American Index for the fifteenth consecutive year.

“DJSI annually raises the bar for performance, so to be repeatedly included in the yearbook is a notable accomplishment. This reflects a lot of hard work by our teams across the globe and also reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to ESG excellence,” said ConocoPhillips Vice President of Sustainable Development Lloyd Visser. “Our scores and ratings are important as they go into databases used by investors and financial institutions.”

ConocoPhillips scored in the 85th percentile globally, putting it in the top 15% of the Oil & Gas Upstream & Integrated industry sector. The company’s scores keep improving in different areas as we continue to close gaps and evaluation methodologies evolve. Areas of notable improvement include:

  • Social Reporting
  • Talent Attraction and Retention
  • Human Capital Development
  • Policy Influence
