A record 12,100 runners recently participated in the 2020 Houston Rodeo Run, which supports the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) Educational Fund. For the past 32 years, ConocoPhillips has been the presenting sponsor of the event, raising more than $5 million to provide college scholarships for Texas youth throughout the years. In 2020, Team ConocoPhillips had over 500 walkers/runners and roughly 100 volunteers, who manned water stations, distributed medals, and staffed the post-race tent and packet pick up locations.
“We’re proud of the role we play in our partnership with the rodeo to give back to the Houston community and it’s great to see so many of our ConocoPhillips employees, contractors, retirees and their families supporting this great event by volunteering,” said Gulf Coast Business Unit Vice President Erec Isaacson. Isaacson and his wife Lisa kicked off the race, along with HLSR President Joel Cowley, HLSR Chairman of the Board Jim Winne, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and Jordan Pemberton, one of the seven scholarship recipients who served as the Parade Grand Marshals.
The ConocoPhillips tent offered food, beverages, giveaways and entertainment to celebrate the race and a family fun area included face painting and games. This year’s Rodeo Run raised an estimated $400,000.
