More than 11,000 people participated in the 36th Annual Rodeo Run, presented by ConocoPhillips on Feb. 25 in downtown Houston. Each year proceeds from the Rodeo Run benefit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s educational programs.
Each year, more than 800 scholarships are awarded to Texas students by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. As one of the largest scholarship providers in the U.S., the Rodeo has presented more than 20,000 scholarships valued at $260 million since 1957.
Team ConocoPhillips had 400 runners and 50 volunteers who participated in this year's event. In the 10K, Mark Anderson was the fastest runner for ConocoPhillips, finishing with a time of 40:04. In the 5K, Rylen Stutzer was the fastest runner for ConocoPhillips, finishing with a time of 23.43.
ConocoPhillips Chairman and CEO Ryan Lance joined Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on the grandstand to officially start the wheelchair race, 10K race and 5K fun run/walk. Turner thanked ConocoPhillips for supporting the Houston community and presented Lance with a proclamation designating Feb. 25, 2023, as ConocoPhillips Day.
Participants and volunteers gathered at Eleanor Tinsley Park by Buffalo Bayou after the races to celebrate the day's events.
